Biomass power generation at Hokuetsu's Katsuta mill.


BIOMASS POWER GENERATION AT HOKUETSU'S KATSUTA Katsuta (käts`tä), city (1990 pop. 109,825), Ibaraki prefecture, central Honshu, Japan, on the Naka River.  MILL. Hokuetsu Paper, Tokyo Tokyo (tō`kēō), city (1990 pop. 8,163,573), capital of Japan and of Tokyo prefecture, E central Honshu, at the head of Tokyo Bay. , Japan, says construction of a new power station has begun at its Katsuta mill. The project, valued at Yen 7600 million (US$ 71.4 million) will use biomass as fuel and be completed in June June: see month.  2006. The mill will produce 41,000KW.

Hokuetsu is also upgrading the mill, which it acquired from Nippon Nippon (nĭp`ŏn, nĭpŏn`), name for Japan, derived from Dai Nippon, meaning Great Japan. The expression comes from the Chinese ideograph for the place where the sun comes from, or Land of the Rising Sun.  Kakoh in June 2004 for Yen 600 million (US$ 5.6 million). The company will rebuild the paper machine and coaters, all of which are operational.
