: BIIB BIIB Basic Imagery Interpretation Brief ) has named Faheem Hasnain as senior vice president of its Oncology Strategic Business Unit. This appointment reflects Biogen Idec's commitment to building its Oncology Center of Excellence in San Diego, where Hasnain is based.

In this role, Hasnain is responsible for business efforts surrounding Rituxan and Zevalin, and serves on Biogen Idec's Operations and Development Oversight Committees, as well as the Joint Management and Joint Commercialization Committees with Genentech.

Hasnain joins Biogen Idec from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, where he served as president of the Oncology Therapeutics Network. In this role, he led the transformation of a $3 billion specialty distribution company by redefining strategy, talent base and the company's competitive platform. Prior to Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Hasnain held numerous roles at GlaxoSmithKline including vice president of Global eBusiness for GSK GSK GlaxoSmithKline plc (pharmaceutical company)

 and vice president of Commercial at GlaxoWellcome Canada. Hasnain also worked for Boehringer Ingelheim prior to joining Glaxo in 1988.

During his career, Hasnain has launched more than 20 new products and more than 30 new indications and line extensions across 12 therapeutic areas. He established market leadership for GlaxoSmithKline in key therapeutic areas, and pioneered the strategic direction for eBusiness for Glaxo Wellcome, Inc. He has received numerous awards and recognitions.

Hasnain received bachelor's degrees in human kinetics and education from the University of Windsor History
