BioVisioN Receives Research Grant within BioChancePLUS Program.

HANNOVER, Germany -- German biotech company BioVisioN AG is pleased to announce the receipt of approval of a research grant within the German BioChancePLUS program. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will fund the Project on "Functional Peptidomics" that aims at the characterisation of proteases and protease inhibitors with 560,000 EUR . In the project BioVisioN will apply its patent-protected Peptidomics(R) technologies to analyse substrates and products of proteases in vivo. The inhibition of proteases is an important mode of action of therapies in fields like diabetes and thrombosis.

By investigating the action of several protease inhibitors in animal models, BioVisioN will discover biomarkers for drug efficacy and possible side effects that can be used in early and advanced stages of drug development thus allowing early selection of the optimal drug candidate and the proper selection of patients responding to the drug, speeding up drug development and contributing to cost reduction.

BioVisioN AG specialises in the identification of disease-relevant peptides and proteins using Peptidomics and Differential Peptide Display. The company was founded in 1997 and today employs 45 people. Apart from research collaborations, BioVisioN provides access to its technology also in fee-for-service contracts as a Biological Research Organisation.
