BioSystems International and Euroscreen Announce Collaboration Agreement.EVRY, France -- BioSystems International and Euroscreen announce that they have signed a Collaboration Agreement for a Biomarker Discovery Program in a Chronic Inflammatory Disease. BioSystems International ("BSI BSI - British Standards Institute ") discovers, validates and qualifies biomarkers through partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology and diagnostics companies and in-house research programs or academic cooperations. BSI merges pharmaceutical and diagnostics industry experience with leading scientific and technology expertise and know-how in separation science, proteomics, genomics and immunology. As part of this program, BSI will conduct clinical samples collection and biomarker discovery using its proprietary technology platform and Euroscreen will provide funding. According to the agreement, BSI will retain rights and income from diagnostic applications and Euroscreen considers to test biomarkers discovered by BSI under the Research Program in its further related GPCR GPCR Guanine Nucleotide-Binding Protein-Coupled Receptor GPCR GTP-binding Protein-Coupled Receptor Drug Development Programs related to the considered disease. Financial terms have not been disclosed According to Francois Roman, VP Research & Development at Euroscreen: "it is further anticipated that this pilot study may provide the basis for additional and more detailed collaborative efforts" BSI's objective is to establish a new standard in the research and discovery of biomarkers suitable for clinical development of drugs and the development of diagnostic tests. The technology platform and expertise of the BioSystems International team permits the identification of disease or pathology-specific biomarkers within a short time frame, compatible with the constraints of drug development. Biomarkers, which make it possible to diagnose a disease, follow its progression or evaluate drug efficacy are crucial for the pharmaceutical industry. They are expected to result in a significant reduction in the cost and duration of clinical trials and improve the clinical follow-up of patients. According to Laszlo Takacs, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. & President of BioSystems International: "BSI's mAb based global plasma proteome pro·te·ome n. The complete set of proteins that are produced by the genes of an organism. proteome the entire complement of proteins produced by a cell. profiling technology holds the key for rapid discovery and validation of biomarkers in a single step!" . About BioSystems International: The mission of BioSystems International is to bring biomarkers to the bedside. BioSystems International ("BSI"), headquartered in Evry, France, operates two research laboratories in France (Genopole Evry) and in Hungary (University of Debrecen History Higher education began in Debrecen with the Calvinist College of Debrecen, which was founded in 1538. Over centuries of its existence it was one of the key institutions of higher education in Hungary. ) and is currently in late-phase contract negotiations with two international pharmaceutical companies Since it was founded in May 2004, BSI has raised EURO 3M from Societe Generale Asset Management and received a EURO 0.5M grant from the Hungarian Ministry of Education. BSI's discovery technology and unique development methods combine high throughput monoclonal antibody technology, mass spectrometry and genome research technologies. It allows BSI to achieve the targeted and quantitative analysis of virtually all proteins in bodily fluids of patients and control subjects with the sensitivity and precision of ELISA ELISA (e-li´sah) Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay; any enzyme immunoassay using an enzyme-labeled immunoreactant and an immunosorbent. ELISA n. assays. BSI builds a streamlined strategy to identify, validate and qualify the most promising biomarkers via a process that includes confirmation of clinical relevance on BSI's patient cohorts or clinical material from large Phase II and Phase III clinical trials of its partners. www.biosys-intl.com About Euroscreen SA Euroscreen is a world leader in G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). The Company integrates its research expertise in this area with its patented high-throughput AequoScreen(TM) cellular assay platform to patent new GPCR targets and drug candidates. The Company is building its own patent portfolio of GPCR targets and novel drug leads for licensing to biopharmaceutical companies, and to date has agreements with Amersham/GE Healthcare, Cephalon Ceph´a`lon n. 1. (Zool.) The head. , ChemDiv, Evotec, ICOS, Merck & Co, Pfizer Inc, Solvay, Syngenta and UCB UCB - University of California at Berkeley . Euroscreen has also established collaborations with numerous academic centers for access to licenses to help in making available its broad menu of GPCR-based products (recombinant cell lines and membrane preparations) and services (custom screening and cloning). Euroscreen has grown significant and strong patent positions to protect many key drug targets for licensing. Such patents include CCR 1. CCR - condition code register. 2. CCR - (Database) concurrency control and recovery. 5, ChemR23, GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) A UWB-based technology that locates objects buried underground. It is used to locate buried lines, storage tanks, pipes and conduits as well as to determine the structural integrity of the ground underneath a road or runway. 43, GPR7/8, purinergic receptors (P2Y4, P2Y11 and P2Y13) and SHIP2 for type II diabetes Type II diabetes Type II diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and usually appears in middle aged adults. It is often associated with obesity and may be delayed or controlled with diet and exercise. Mentioned in: Diabetic Ketoacidosis . Euroscreen is able to offer intellectual property rights to companies for the development of therapeutic drugs that act through the above-mentioned targets.
