Company Expands Senior Management Team to Accommodate Anticipated

Growth in 2003

BioSphere biosphere, irregularly shaped envelope of the earth's air, water, and land encompassing the heights and depths at which living things exist. The biosphere is a closed and self-regulating system (see ecology), sustained by grand-scale cycles of energy and of  Medical(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: BSMD), a medical device company that is pioneering the use of bioengineered microspheres to treat hypervascularized tumors and vascular malformations by occluding their blood supply, announced today that it has appointed Peter Sutcliffe Peter William Sutcliffe (born June 2, 1946), commonly referred to as the "Yorkshire Ripper", was convicted in 1981 of the murders of thirteen women in the north of England and attacks on seven more from 1975 to 1980.  as the Company's vice president of manufacturing.

Peter Sutcliffe assumed his role on October 21 and reports to Paul Looney, BioSphere Medical's president, chief executive officer and chairman. Peter is responsible for managing the Company's manufacturing and quality operations worldwide.
