Motzkin has been named vice president of corporate development, effective Aug. 1. Motzkin, 53, is known as one of the pioneers in New England's solid waste industry. He became CEO in 1983 and served in that capacity until 1990, when the company was purchased by Laidlaw Waste Systems, a subsidiary of Laidlaw Inc. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :LDWB). From 1990 through 1994, he was manager of Laidlaw's Massachusetts operations, with overall responsibility for Laidlaw's sales programs and customer service activities in the state.
