BioMachines Inc Adopt Nonlinear Dynamics' SameSpots Approach for 2D Image Analysis.

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE Newcastle upon Tyne, city (1991 pop. 199,064) and metropolitan district, NE England, on the Tyne River. The city is an important shipping and trade center. The famous coal-shipping industry began in the 13th cent. , England -- Nonlinear Dynamics nonlinear dynamics, study of systems governed by equations in which a small change in one variable can induce a large systematic change; the discipline is more popularly known as chaos (see chaos theory).  Ltd, a leading global provider of bioinformatics solutions, today announced that BioMachines Inc. have selected SameSpots as the 2D analysis solution to support their new state-of-the-art protein analysis service. BioMachines' newly created Applied Proteomics Services Division differentiates itself by offering a fully integrated technology platform and giving advantages in data quality and throughput. The unique approach of Nonlinear's new SameSpots solution is a key component to delivering this offer.

images. This unique approach offers users a streamlined, faster 2D workflow, largely through the elimination of post analysis editing (on the majority of experiments). This drastically speeds up the 2D analysis process and reduces the subjectivity which editing inevitably introduces. The SameSpots approach also guarantees 100% matching across an experiment and no missing values In statistics, missing values are a common occurrence. Several statistical methods have been developed to deal with this problem. Missing values mean that no data value is stored for the variable in the current observation. , allowing increased statistical power and new possibilities for 2D based proteomics research.

process. Applying SameSpots to the aligned images vastly reduces, and even removes in some cases, the need for post analysis editing - the time consuming part of 2D image analysis."

Doug Hinerfeld, Technical Director, BioMachines Applied Proteomics Group said, "By implementing SameSpots in our analysis workflow, we are achieving complete matching across an experiment, with no missing values, so we can have confidence in any statistical tests we choose to perform."

David Bramwell, Technical Director of Nonlinear Dynamics said "We are overwhelmed by the interest developing around SameSpots and the positive feedback we have received telling us the difference it makes to 2D proteomics. BioMachines' new division, whose business is based on protein analysis, is showing a renewed interest in proteomics and SameSpots appears to be playing a key role in creating that interest."

Nonlinear sells and supports its products through its UK headquarters, its USA office, and its global network of partners and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  resellers.
