BioCrystal, Ltd. Commercializes New Cell Separation Technology for Use With OptiCell(R); OptiCell(R)s Novel Non-Invasive, High Efficiency Magnetic Separation Protocol Improves Purity and Yield in Positive or Negative Cell Selection Practices.

COLUMBUS, Ohio Columbus is the capital and the largest city of the American state of Ohio. Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816.  -- OptiCell(R) places desired cells in a fluid population in close proximity to new, technically advanced high field magnet technology, resulting in purer separations with higher positive and negative yields in single use applications.

In controlled single-use laboratory experiments using OptiCell's new magnet technology in combination with 1-micron size avidin-conjugated Dynabeads, the purity of the negatively selected cell population was greater than 95%, as verified by flow cytometry flow cytometry (flōˑ sī·tˑ·m . Recovery yields were greater than 99% for both the negative and positive cell populations.

OptiCell can be used to perform in situ In place. When something is "in situ," it is in its original location.  magnetic cell selection under conditions that minimize the effects of cell viability degradation. OptiCell offers the means to separate or isolate cells, culture the selected cells, and harvest the scaled up cell population in the same sterile environment.

OptiCell's patented design and construction make it the ideal tool for cell culture and subsequent procedures including in situ microscopy microscopy /mi·cros·co·py/ (mi-kros´kah-pe) examination under or observation by means of the microscope.

OptiCell offers the ability to separate and scale up a selected cell population in the same sterile environment. OptiCell is also well suited for continuous, laboratory-scale antibody production.

BioCrystal will collaborate with others in developing bioreagent-coupled OptiCell products that offer the means to simplify and streamline cell culture practices. BioCrystal will feature OptiCell at the AACR AACR American Association for Cancer Research
AACR Anglo-American Cataloging Rules
AACR Australasian Association of Cancer Registries
AACR African Armed Conflicts Resolved
Meeting in Washington DC April 1-5.
