BioComp Systems Announces Process Understanding and Optimization Software.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1999--

BioComp Systems announced today the introduction of Process Intellect, a landmark in process modeling, monitoring, understanding and optimization.

Process Intellect connects to manufacturing processes, quality databases and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer.  systems to build high accuracy models of the effects of process conditions and materials on resulting product performance. These models are then used to monitor process conditions and materials usage to predict product problems before they occur. If an impending im·pend

problem is likely, Process Intellect alerts operators, supervisors and/or engineers to the impending situation and can develop its own recommended actions to bring product performance back into specification.

Further capitalizing on these capabilities, Process Intellect enables process and product engineers to explore their process models to better understand the complex cause and effects within their processes, materials and resulting product characteristics and quality. Process Intellect also identifies key variables that impact results and helps identify causes of production problems.

"Process Intellect is unique. Not only is the modeling technology superior, but it has been created by engineers for engineers. We know the challenges and we have the technology to solve them," says Carl Cook, president of BioComp Systems.

Process Intellect automatically constructs optimized non-linear dynamic models of process and product behavior and employs those models for predicting future performance. Engineers can explore and gain further understanding of their process as well as receive alerts and notifications via Process Intellect's Engineer's Viewpoint package. Operators and Production Supervisors receive alerts and notifications via Process Intellect's Operator's Viewpoint package. Process Intellect embraces Microsoft's DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.
