The additional results from BioAlliance Pharma's pivotal Phase III study with miconazole Lauriad([R]) mucoadhesive buccal tablets (MBT) demonstrated comparable efficacy and safety profile to that of clotrimazole clotrimazole /clo·trim·a·zole/ (klo-trim´ah-zol) an imidazole derivative used as a broad-spectrum antifungal agent.

 candidiasis candidiasis (kăn'dĭdī`əsĭs), infection of the mucous membranes caused by the fungus Candida albicans. Other terms for candidiasis are yeast infection, moniliasis (after a former name of the fungal genus), and thrush, the  (OPC), in HIV-positive patients in 40 sites in the United States, Canada and South Africa. The data also demonstrated a good patient compliance as a result of the added convenience of a once-a-day dosing.

OPC, also known as thrush, is an oral fungal infection most common in individuals with weakened immune systems - particularly those with HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome  and those undergoing cancer treatments. OPC is a disruptive condition that results in lesions and inflammation in the mouth, and includes symptoms such as soreness, burning and/or altered taste.
