Bio-logic receives permission to market new ambulatory EEG system.

MUNDELEIN, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 1996--Bio-logic Systems Corp. (Nasdaq:BLSC, "Bio-logic" or the "Company"), a designer and marketer of computerized electrodiagnostic systems for the diagnosis of epilepsy, today announced that it has received permission from the Food and Drug Administration to begin marketing its new ambulatory electroencephalography (EEG) system, the Ceegraph(TM) Traveler(R).

"The Traveler enables Bio-logic to offer a complete line of electroencephalography systems. We are the first and only company that offers fully compatible home, out-patient and in-patient short-term recording as well as long-term video recording. With the addition of the Traveler, we can now penetrate all segments of epilepsy monitoring while providing cost reducing health care solutions.

Our product line includes the Ceegraph Console and Express systems for routine EEG tests of less than an hour and Ceegraph with synchronized video monitoring for long-term, continuous testing. Now we have a system which collects a full 16 to 24 channels for 24 hours. The Traveler is battery operated, small enough for a patient to comfortably wear home and eliminates the cost of in-patient stay. We also have a program for automatic epileptic event detection which is in the final stages of testing which will reduce the amount of time it takes the physician to analyze Traveler's patient file," Raviv commented.

Traveler's patient files can be read on the Ceegraph console, Express and Reader station to provide a total, integrated solution for epilepsy testing. Additionally, by using the Smart-Pack(TM) lossless data compression option (patent pending), storage capacity, transmission and archiving speed are improved by two and a half times.

The Ceegraph Traveler is the result of nearly two years of research and development and its microcomputer platform will be incorporated in future product line expansions. "This product is a good example of how we anticipate the next generation in computer technology and harness it to introduce innovative products for the electrodiagnostic industry," Raviv said. Bio-logic is in the process of setting up final production and anticipates units to be available by the end of its first fiscal quarter (ending May, 1996).
