Bio-centre partners; Hope for new treatments.Byline: BY SOPHIE FREEMAN Business Staff CANCER, asthma and allergies could all find new treatments on Merseyside after a major deal was signed by the operators of the National Biomanufacturing Centre in Speke. Eden Biodesign has teamed up with SR Pharma, a European biopharmaceutical firm, to aid in its product development and manufacturing. Eden was appointed as operator of the pounds 34m centre, which is due to open early next year, tasked with making it Europe's leading biopharmaceutical design base. The government-funded centre is part of a regional plan to make the North West one of the foremost areas for biomanufacturing in Europe. SR Pharma will be the first client to move into the National Biomanufacturing Centre. Crawford Brown, chief executive of Eden Biodesign, said: "We are convinced we will be able to add substantial clinical and commercial value to SR Pharma's products."
