Bio-Technology General Corp. (NASDAQ:BTGC) today announced the appointment of Whitney K. Stearns, Jr. to the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer.

Mr. Stearns will direct and oversee the worldwide financial management and accounting activities of the Company and its subsidiaries and the Company's investor relations program. With the appointment of Mr. Stearns, Yehuda Sternlicht assumes the newly created position of Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer.

Mr. Stearns is a highly qualified and experienced financial executive. His professional career to date spans twenty-seven years in a variety of financial positions with strong public company, financial, and operational experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. From 1975 to 1989, Mr. Stearns held various positions at KPMG (including its predecessor organizations), where he became an Audit Partner. From 1989 to 2000 he held a series of financial positions at Schein Pharmaceutical, Inc., among them Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. At Schein, Mr. Stearns' responsibilities covered accounting systems and controls, financial planning and budgeting, tax, internal audit, investment and commercial banking, and investor relations. Most recently, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer with PhytoCeutica, Inc., an early stage biopharmaceutical company. Mr. Stearns holds a B.S. in accounting from Lehigh University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
