Bio-Reference Laboratories Elevates Maria Pedemonte-Coira, MD, to Vice President, Chief Medical Officer.

Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ - "BRLI"), has announced that Bader Maria Pedemonte-Coira, MD, has been promoted to the position of Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer at Bio-Reference Laboratories, enhancing and expanding her prior position as Medical Director.

Dr. Pedemonte will continue to directly oversee GenPath, the Company's Cancer Laboratory. In her expanded role, Dr. Pedemonte will continue to direct the Bio-Reference presence in the esoteric testing market. Since her return to the Company in August 2000, Bio-Reference has steadily extended its presence in the oncology and esoteric marketplace and such testing has grown to represent approximately 25% of the total Bio-Reference revenues for the current Fiscal Year.

Dr. Pedemonte has previously worked at Impath, Inc, and Quest Diagnostics (formerly Corning Clinical Laboratories). In August 2000, she returned to Bio-Reference Laboratories as Medical Director. Bio-Reference Laboratories has clearly articulated its strategy for some time now that a regional full service laboratory can successfully provide superior specialty and esoteric testing services that will enable it to expand its scope and region. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pedemonte will take an active role in the implementation of that strategy.
