The State of California Medical Waste Management Act of 1990 created laws that regulate the identification, storage, transportation, and disposal of medical waste. Under California State Law, Bio-Matrix is required to develop a medical waste management plan.

All Bio-Matrix personnel handling biohazardous waste must be trained in all aspects of the management plan. Training includes the legal definition of biohazardous waste, separation and proper storage, transportation, treatment, and disposal of biohazardous waste.
