The Bio-ITWorld conference program will provide a unique educational forum for life science professionals to learn first-hand how the leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations utilize technologies to speed, store, analyze and interpret the flood of information being produced in the post-genomic era.

Bio-ITWorld begins with half-day workshops on Tuesday, March 25 that provide in-depth training on key products and technologies. Taught by experts in their respective fields, workshop topics range from "Integrating Visualization and Data Mining for Biomolecular and Medical Informatics medical informatics,
n the field of information science concerned with the analysis and dissemination of medical data through the application of computers to various aspects of health care and medicine.
" to "Knowledge Management: Bridging Biology & Information Technology," and from "IT Solutions for Accessing and Analyzing Proteomic Data" to "Defining Winning Strategies in R&D Informatics."

The Bio-ITWorld conference program includes four tracks, each featuring case studies to illustrate how technology is advancing life sciences. Conference tracks include:
-- Technology Infrastructure & Applications

-- Computational Solutions for Life Science Problems

-- Knowledge Discovery and Management

-- Business and Operations in Life Sciences IT

to Bio-ITWorld. The E-Clinical Trials Symposium will feature prominent scientists discussing the technologies which are paving the way to more efficient drug trials, decision-making strategies and the state of the clinical trial management systems marketplace. Co-organized by Bio-IT World magazine, the E-Clinical Trials Symposium will take place on March 25 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

The Post-Genomic Frontiers Symposium, also taking place on March 25 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., will feature prominent scientists discussing the technologies that are paving the way to a better understanding of human health and disease. Co-organized by Bio-IT World magazine, the Post-Genomic Frontiers Symposium will offer a panoramic view of the scientific advances and technologies that will shape the future of biomedical research Biomedical research (or experimental medicine), in general simply known as medical research, is the basic research or applied research conducted to aid the body of knowledge in the field of medicine.  and drug discovery. Leading scientists will illustrate how knowledge of the genome and a stream of new technology is being applied in fields such as pharmacogenomics, proteomics, chemical biology Chemical biology is a scientific discipline spanning the fields of chemistry and biology that involves the application of chemical techniques and tools, often compounds produced through synthetic chemistry, to the study and manipulation of biological systems.  and systems biology Systems biology, a field of study in the biosciences, focuses on the systematic study of complex interactions in biological systems. Particularly from 2000 onwards, the term is used widely in the biosciences, and in a variety of contexts. .

IDG World Expo will also debut the Bio-ITWorld Luminary Forum for the upcoming event, taking place on Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27. Participating attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet and network face-to-face with Bio-ITWorld keynote speakers in a small-group setting.

Bio-ITWorld Conference & Expo will feature keynote presentations from Dr. Francis S. Collins, director of the National Human Genome The human genome is the genome of Homo sapiens, which is composed of 24 distinct pairs of chromosomes (22 autosomal + X + Y) with a total of approximately 3 billion DNA base pairs containing an estimated 20,000–25,000 genes.  Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health (Wednesday, March 26 at 10:15 a.m.); Dr. Caroline A.
