IF AT first you don't succeed, try, try again. That could be Clive Brittain's mantra and he showed characteristic tenacity when finally sending out a two-year-old winner at the Kent track with the debut success of Mohammed Al Nabouda's Bint Doyen.

The omens were not good, as the Newmarket trainer had even seen the same owner's Hibaayeb, the subsequent Group 1 Fillies' Mile The Fillies' Mile is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for two-year-old thoroughbred fillies. The filly took 20 minutes to get out of her horsebox and it looked halfway through the race as if she would need a taxi to make the frame but, with leaders and market rivals Cansili Star and Govern cutting each other's throats out in front, the picture changed dramatically in the final 100 yards as Chris Catlin drove Bint Doyen past to land a 22-1 success.

Des Reap, Brittain's travelling head groom, said: "She is such a baby still, so this was a surprise. Her owner only has the two with us, so is very lucky."

Just for good measure, Bint Doyen is a half-sister to Hibaayeb's dam Lady Zonda.

Arteus made all at an opportune time to win the 7f handicap. Winning trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam reported: "He is in the horses in training sale and hopefully the jump boys will like him."

Winning jockey Pat Cosgrave later picked up a two-day ban (Oct 20-21) for causing interference to The Galloping Shoe on sprint runner-up Idle Power.

Florentia initiated a quickfire across-the-card double for the in-form Sir Mark Prescott stable - completed by Ingenue in·gé·nue also in·ge·nue

The Newmarket trainer, who had a virus-ridden 2008, has sent out four winners from seven runners this month and eight winners in the last fortnight as his year has turned around. Prescott had just 13 winners by the end of June, but has now topped his best score in the last five years with a total of 68 winners.

Reg Gifford's hardy old campaigner had gone close at Goodwood last time in a better race and enjoyed this easier task to romp home alone up the straight.

We Have a Dream was another ready winner, making all up the stands' rail in the 6f handicap.

He drifted right when asked to win his race by Martin Dwyer, but made it 2-1 in his favour in beating old adversary Idle Power.
