McCarthy were united in marriage at six in the evening on July 13, 2002, at the First-United Methodist Church in Tupelo. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James William Bingham. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Turner Reed of Saltillo, and Mr. James Washington James McArthur Washington (born January 10, 1965 in Los Angeles, California) was an American football safety in the NFL. One of his most notable performances was in Super Bowl XXVIII when Thurman Thomas, after being tackled by Leon Lett, fumbled the ball, Washington returned it for Bingham and the late Jane Bryson Bingham of Guntown. A lawyer and developer, Oliver is a member of Nova Scotia's Black minority. McCarthy and Rev. C. Ray Warner, Sr. and the late Ruby G. Warner, all of West Point, Georgia. He is the great-grandson of Emmitt A. McCarthy of Lanett, Alabama. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. John Sudduth and Rev. C. Ray Warner, Sr., grandfather of the groom. Kelli McCarthy of West Point, Georgia, sister of the groom, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Carrie Anderson of Montgomery, Alabama; Shannon Morgan Herald of Wilder, Kentucky; Molly Hester of Jackson; Kelsey Lancaster of Tupelo; and Hollie Worley of Tavares, Florida. They wore floor-length dresses in cafe. The fitted metallic knit tops met sheath satin skirts with sweep trains. Karlee Oliver of Lanett, Alabama, was flower girl. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted an outdoor reception at Mount Vernon Place in Tupelo. Guests danced to music provided by The Directors. Earlier that day, a bridal brunch was hosted by Suzanne Bingham, Brenda Berryhill, and Ashley Oliver at the home of the bride.
