BindView Corporation (NASDAQ: BVEW), a leading provider of IT security management solutions, announced today that the MSN network of Internet services has added BindView to its inventory of solutions to effectively manage, control and secure its enterprise-wide Active Directory environment. Active Directory is the underlying infrastructure by which MSN manages the delivery of its worldwide services and digital marketing solutions. MSN services include MSN.com, which attracts more than 300 million unique users worldwide per month, as well as Passport, MSN Messenger Service, MSNBC and MSN Hotmail, among others.

BindView reported that MSN selected bv-Control for Windows and bv-Control for Active Directory for the products' auditing and reporting capabilities. Because bv-Control can audit and manage any Active Directory object, including user objects, it can ensure that invalid users are prohibited access to information and that valid users only have access to the information that is suitable to them. As a result, MSN is now more easily able to meet the crucial security requirements of its business.

In addition, MSN uses bv-Control to run both the ad hoc reports required to better manage the network on a daily basis, as well as the more structured reports required by management for auditing purposes. Both these report types, neither of which requires engineering resources to create or run, help MSN analyze the network's security procedures.
