BindView Compliance Center Earns Industry's First Advanced Certification from the Center for Internet Security.

(Nasdaq:BVEW) today announced that its Compliance Center solution has been certified against the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Level 2 Benchmarks for Windows 2000 Server and Professional operating systems, and is the first product in the industry to complete the rigorous certification process for this level of security.

Named "best benchmarking effort" by Information Security, CIS benchmarks are developed by global consensus among hundreds of security professionals as recommendations for minimum due care and preferred practice security configurations. CIS Level 2 recommendations reach far beyond minimum-security levels by enumerating configuration settings and actions that "harden" an organization's IT systems against internal and external security breaches.

After extensive testing conducted by the independent Virginia Tech Security Testing Laboratory, BindView Compliance Center achieved two CIS certifications. Included in the certifications are CIS Level 2 Benchmark, Version 2.0.5, for the Windows 2000 Professional Operating System, and CIS Level 2 Benchmark, Version 1.0.2, for the Windows 2000 Server Operating System. With these certifications, BindView demonstrates expanded security best practices that help organizations ensure that Windows 2000 systems are properly configured with the most appropriate security settings.
