Bin menu takeaway; Your Say.

I WAS astonished to see a scene recently that might well be more usual in a Third World country.

I was in Linthorpe Road at 12.30pm one Sunday recently. Families were walking up and down in the spring sunshine.

A tall cadaverous man in a woolly hat and reasonable clothes was lifting takeaway boxes out of a waste bin, laying them out on the flat top of the bin, scraping out old food into one box - curry, fish batter, mushy peas, pie, pudding, chips, gravy, all congealed and second hand.

I did not take him into a nearby cafe and buy him a pounds 10 meal for his Sunday lunch. Should I have done? I've thought about him ever since.
