last night backed his ex-assistant Billy Davies William McIntosh "Billy" Davies (born 31 May 1964 in Glasgow) is a former Scottish professional football player and is currently the team manager of Derby County having been appointed on 2 June, 2006 after departure from Preston North End. to revive his career at Nottingham Forest.

Davies got off to a flyer yesterday as he watched his new charges maul Manchester City 3-0 in the FA Cup.

And former Scotland gaffer Brown, who had Billy as his No.2 at Preston, reckons Forest have made a shrewd move in replacing Colin Calderwood Colin Calderwood (born 20 January, 1965, in Stranraer, Scotland) is a former football player and current manager of Nottingham Forest, having been appointed in May 2006. Career with his fellow Scot.

Craig said: "It is an inspired appointment and if anyone can keep them up this season it is Billy.

"This is the perfect job for him. He can do for Forest what he did for Derby in the Championship.

"He has all the capabilities and attributes to be a success. He has been successful wherever he has been. It is an impressive CV.

"Billy will build an instant rapport with the players. They will respect him straight away and his enthusiasm and knowledge will lead to an instant response from them."
