His hours are spent daydreaming, but he still lives at home with his parents and granny. Sally Sanders proves a great granny who happily talks to herself and keeps a secret hoard of condensed milk tins in her bedroom... in case of emergencies. She worries about her wayward grandson and his parade of girlfriends and sits through the family rows and arguments in bewilderment. Emmerdale's Dicken Ashworth also makes his mark as the not-so-patient Dad who can't figure out his work-shy son while Lauren Drummond is memorable as orange-loving girlfriend Barbara, who dreams of a white wedding and married life with a little Billy and a little Barbara to complete the family. But Nathan Hannan plays Billy more as an annoying oik than an endearing dreamer. His Billy is loud and brash and lies to everyone, but most of all himself. The result is a rather charmless Billy who's is hard to like and it makes the final scene less poignant. Lots of chuckles but no belly laughs..
