Billingshield Flock provides top Swaledale of Roman Wall Show.


The Roman Wall Show had one of the finest days ever to exhibit an excellent show of sheep, with 38 mule ewe lambs in one class, and the largest crown for years.

The Blackface champion was from Robert and Jackie Raine, Townfoot West Woodburn West Woodburn is a village in north-western Northumberland, England.

The 2001 census recorded a population of 492 in the Parish Council area of Corsenside of which West Woodburn is the main settlement. The village is situated 15 miles south of the border with Scotland and 13.
 with a tup lamb by a pounds 3,500 Rookland sire, out of a homebred ewe by a pounds 1,000 Rookland sire.

 Show. In the final line for the overall championship, John Snaith gave this tup lamb top honours of the day.

 took the top honours from Ian Collinson's Billingshield Flock. She was sired by the pounds 2,500 Stuart Harker tup out of a ewe by a Brian Thornbrough tup.

The North of England mule ewe lambs were the greatest show of quality with 64 entries in the two single lamb classes, with 38 entries bred out degenerated.

For the second year running the champion lamb was from Dinnings of Fallowfield Hexham, this lamb is sired by a tup purchased from MW Skidmore Ltd, North Hanging Wells Eastgate. Judge James Porter James Porter can refer to:

 of Reeth said: "It was an honour to be judging such a quality pen of lambs."

The committee class was won by D Swallow High Edges Green Haltwhistle, with a Leicester ewe Hogg by his Shaft hill sire out of a homebred ewe.

The children's section was won by David Robson Townshields Haydon Bridge with a Blackface tup lamb. He also won the Allan McFarlane Memorial Perpetutal Challenge Cup.
