Billie-Jo: Jury considering its verdict.


AN OLD Bailey jury was today considering its verdict in the Billie-Jo Jenkins murder retrial retrial n. a new trial granted upon the motion of the losing party, based on obvious error, bias or newly-discovered evidence. (See: newly-discovered evidence) .

Former deputy head-teacher Sion Jenkins, aged 48, denies murdering his 13-year-old foster daughter (below) in February 1997.

She was found battered over the head at least 10 times with an iron tent peg while painting patio doors at the family home in Hastings, East Sussex.

He was jailed for life following a trial in 1998. A retrial was ordered following two appeals.

A jury at the Old Bailey failed to reach a verdict last July. A second retrial began three months ago.
