Bill working out as good neighbor.


When former President Bill Clinton came to Harlem in 2001, he was greeted with great fanfare. Now, the fanfare has evaporated, but the curiosity still persists.

The former president moved to 55 W. 125th St. after his original choice of an office in the Carnegie Hall Tower Carnegie Hall Tower is a 60-story skyscraper located on 57th Street in New York City. Part of a cluster of three very tall buildings (along with CitySpire Center and Metropolitan Tower), the tower was built in an architectural style in harmony with its neighbor Carnegie Hall, a  at 152 W. 57th St. was criticized by some as too expensive to taxpayers.

Asking leases in the building at the time were about $89 per s/f.

Meanwhile the former president concentrates his business efforts largely on helping the poor, wiping out HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome  and helping local businesses succeed.

Clinton's office set up the Harlem Small Business Initiative, which has helped 10 businesses in Harlem and plans to aid up to 20 more in the next few months, according to according to
