Bill gives firefighters more building details.

 recently signed a bill improving communications between the New York City Fire Department The New York City Fire Department or the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has the responsibility for protecting the citizens and property of New York City's five boroughs from fires and fire hazards, providing emergency medical services, technical rescue as well as  and the Department of Buildings.

The bill would require the Buildings Department to notify the Fire Department after it issues a permit that would result in a new or amended a·mend  
v. a·mend·ed, a·mend·ing, a·mends

The announcement was made at a public hearing.

"Our Administration has already launched several initiatives to improve coordination between the Buildings and Fire Departments, including the Digital Blueprint blueprint, white-on-blue photographic print, commonly of a working drawing used during building or manufacturing. The plan is first drawn to scale on a special paper or tracing cloth through which light can penetrate.  project," Mayor Bloomberg said.

"Introductory Number 553-A will further improve communication and the sharing of data by providing firefighters, prior to responding to an emergency, with the information necessary to determine if significant changes were made to a building.

"This bill will ensure that the brave men and women of the Fire Department will be thoroughly armed with accurate building information, which will improve public safety throughout our City," Mayor Bloomberg said.
