Bill Wernimont, well-known agrimarketer and founder/partner of Wernimont & Paullus, Cedar Rapids Cedar Rapids, city (1990 pop. 108,751), seat of Linn co., E central Iowa, on the Cedar River; inc. as a city 1856. The second largest city in Iowa, it is named for the surging rapids in the river. It is a commercial and industrial city as well as a distribution and rail center for an extensive agricultural area. Manufactures include food and beverages, electrical equipment, machinery, and metal and plastic products. Coe College and Mt. Mercy College are there., Iowa, died Sept. 23, 2003. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids followed by a Celebration of Life at the Legion in Fairfax, where hundreds of friends, clients and industry colleagues paid their last respects. Wernimont served many years in agriculture agencies such as Colle + McVoy, Three Arts Advertising and Wernimont & Paullus, as well as several years with WTCN-TV in Minneapolis and WMT-TV in Cedar Rapids.
