Bill Keever Appointed President of AirTouch International; Ed Salas to Head German Operations.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 1998--AirTouch Communications (NYSE:ATI) today announced the appointment of Bill Keever as president of AirTouch International, with responsibility for all of the wireless firm's joint ventures outside the United States. Keever will now report to Arun Sarin, president and chief operating officer of AirTouch Communications.

In this new position, Keever will have responsibility for international operations and business development, mobile satellite services and the operations development center. Keever will oversee AirTouch's rapidly growing operations in 12 international markets, with more than 22 million total customers.

Keever was instrumental in the successful 1992 launch of the D2 cellular network in Germany, which celebrated the acquisition of its five millionth customer this August. D2 is the cellular service brand of Mannesmann Mobilfunk GmbH, a joint venture of Mannesmann AG and AirTouch. Keever was appointed executive vice president of AirTouch International in 1994, in recognition of his key role as chief technical officer of D2, responsible for its network design, planning, implementation, operation and administration.

Before his work in Germany, Keever had 25 years' experience at Pacific Bell in various engineering and operations positions, including sales and customer support.

Keever will be replaced by Ed Salas, newly appointed as vice president, German operations. Salas was vice president, network engineering & planning for AirTouch Cellular, where he oversaw the planning, deployment and technical support for analog and digital cellular networks in the United States. Previously, Salas led the operations development center for International and was the chief technical officer for AirTouch's Portuguese joint venture company, Telecel.
