Caton, who joined Navistar last October as executive vice president, finance, succeeds Robert C. Lannert, who will now focus on future strategic initiatives.

When Caton joined the company, it was announced that the company's board of directors planned to elect him chief financial officer of Navistar upon the filing of the company's 2005 10-K. Since the 2005 filing has been delayed, the board decided to act now.

Prior to joining Navistar, Caton, 55, served as the vice president and chief financial officer of Dover Diversified, Inc., a subsidiary of Dover Corporation Dover Corporation (NYSE: DOV) is a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 manufacturer of specialized industrial products and equipment within six segments.
