Besides ``I, Sarah'' at Actor's Cabaret cabaret

Restaurant that serves liquor and offers light musical entertainment. The cabaret probably originated in France in the 1880s as a small club that presented amateur acts and satiric skits lampooning bourgeois conventions.
, two other plays open on Eugene stages this week: one a song-and-dance musical revival in a touring show at the Hult Center, the other a multicultural romance by a small bilingual theater company from Portland.

He finds solace in the street life of Pamplona, where he meets Liliana and her keeper, Don Armando Don Armando Bonilla (8/9/46-11/16/02) formed the Second Avenue Rhumba Band with vocalist Fonda Rae and scored a #1 hit on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart with "Deputy Of Love" in 1979. Flamenco dancing is characterized by colorful costumes, intense and erotic movements, stamping of the feet (zapateado), and clapping of the hands (palmada  Arts Academy in Portland.

The play will be performed at Lord Leebrick Theatre, 540 Charnelton St., for two performances only, 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Teatro Milagro's visit also includes a bilingual acting workshop from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets to the play are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors; call 465-1506. The workshop is free and open to the public.

42nd Street

Broadway Across America tour

A lush valentine to old Broadway comes to the Hult's Silva Concert Hall this weekend in a traveling revival of the 1980 hit musical `42nd Street.'

This show's got singing, tap dancing and such old chestnuts as `We're in the Money,' `Lullaby of Broadway,' `I Only Have Eyes For You' and `42nd Street.'

The show, a star-is-born story, won the 1980 Tony Award for Best New Musical. The show ran for 10 years on Broadway. Then, the revival won the 2001 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival; it played in Tokyo last summer and is now making a North American North American

named after North America.

Performances are at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $25 to $47.50 through the Hult box office, 682-5000.
