Freies Gymnasium gymnasium

In Germany, a state-maintained secondary school that prepares pupils for higher academic education. This type of nine-year school originated in Strasbourg in 1537.
 Zurich (FGZ) has established itself as the leading school for bilingual education bilingual education, the sanctioned use of more than one language in U.S. education. The Bilingual Education Act (1968), combined with a Supreme Court decision (1974) mandating help for students with limited English proficiency, requires instruction in the native  in the Greater Zurich area The European Metropolitan Region of Zurich (EMRZ), also Greater Zurich Area (GZA, German Zürcher Wirtschaftsraum, Metropolregion Zürich . In order to meet the requirements of a globalised world, our successful bilingual way is not limited to just a few school years, but begins at the pre-kindergarten level and is concluded with the Swiss Bilingual Matura examination. Teaching is based on the Zurich curriculum.

The primary school classes are the responsibility of our partner, the Lakeside School 'Lakeside regularly sends up to 25% of its graduating class to Ivy League schools, and 99% to college.[1] Its most famous alumni are Bill Gates and Paul Allen, founders of Microsoft, who got their start programming tic-tac-toe on a time-shared computer provided by the Lakeside , in Kusnacht. The Progymnasium and the lower and upper schools of the Gymnasium are housed in FGZ in Zurich's Seefeld district. Grades seven and eight are taught by mother-tongue teachers using the immersion immersion /im·mer·sion/ (i-mer´zhun)

A distinguishing factor of the bilingual education offered by FGZ is its high academic level. What is more, students benefit from being immersed im·merse

The diverse family and educational backgrounds of our students produce a special school atmosphere where tolerance and team spirit are vital qualities to be lived out on a daily basis. Furthermore, the Swiss Bilingual Matura examination qualifies students to study at Swiss and international universities.
