It includes Jerusalem's Old City and some of the holiest sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, such as the Temple Mount, Western  in protest of the practices of occupation. These weekly demos came out of the movement to stop the Wall that was, and still is, built on Palestinian lands and which divides one town from another, creates long and difficult routes to places just a few kilometers away and prevents access to farm lands.In western Ramallah's Bil'in Village the nonviolent resistance has been active against the Wall for several years. Many of their people have been severely injured or killed, including Chamis, a young man who is healing from a shot with a gas canister to the head, and another, Bassam, who was killed by the same thing just a few weeks ago.Every week the nonviolent resistance finds a theme to mix things up, to get media attention and to keep themselves going.Today Palestinian demonstrators, along with their Israeli and foreign supporters, wore the surgical masks popular in Asia. . A large banner was raised: "Stop the virus of occupation."Among the leadership of the local resistance is Abdullah Abu Rahma who said this was the way to get attention right now. "The world is interested in swine flu," he told PNN today, Friday.Abu Rahma continued, "With one there are deaths and there is quarantine quarantine (kwŏr`əntēn), isolation of persons, animals, places, and effects that carry or are suspected of harboring communicable disease. ; but the occupation causes the deaths of thousands of Palestinians and the detention of tens of thousands, and thus this is the most dangerous occupation on the face of the earth."He added among the dozens of supporters gathered near the fence and soldiers with guns, Today we are trying to draw the attention of the world to what we suffer under the occupation, more than any pandemic pandemic /pan·dem·ic/ (pan-dem´ik)
