Biker dies in crash.


A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash with a bus yesterday.

The accident happened between Burnopfield and Hamsterley Mill in north-west Durham at 7am, when the motorbike crashed with a single-decker Go North-East bus.

The motorcyclist, believed to be in his forties, died at the scene.

Witnesses are asked to call police on (0191) 375-2159.

To the rescue

FIREFIGHTERS are helping to modernise fire and rescue services in Ghana.

Driver rescued

A DRIVER was rescued from his lorry by firefighters after it overturned near a roundabout yesterday.

Crews used a ladder to reach the man who was trapped after his lorry overturned at the roundabout on the A68 close to Heighington, near Bishop Auckland, County Durham, at 8.35am.
