RONNIE BIGGS Ronald Arthur Biggs better known as Ronnie Biggs (born August 8, 1929) is an English prisoner who is known for escaping from prison after his minor role in the Great Train Robbery of 1963 and for being on the run for many years.  has been moved out of his cell at Norwich prison and into hospital with severe pneumonia. His son Michael said: "It is the worst he's ever been." Biggs, 79, pictured, was refused parole over the 1963 Great Train Robbery Train robbery was a type of robbery, in which the goal was to steal any money being delivered as cargo on trains. Trains carrying payroll shipments were for this reason a major target.  this month. He has fractures of the hip, pelvis and spine and has had three strokes.
