The ice rink has been built as the town celebrates the fourth week of the five-week long Stockton Sparkles Festival.

Shoppers and visitors have also been treated to performances by street entertainers, including The Skating Snowman and the Ice Queen.

Councillor Jean O'Donnell, Stockton Council's cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: "After last week's theme of Fire, this week saw the temperature drop with the arrival of the ice rink and I am sure everyone will get their skates on and enjoy the experience.

"Stockton Sparkles has proved a huge success and the Town Centre has been buzzing with festive spirit as people enjoy the shopping and entertainment."

The rink will be open daily until Wednesday from noon until 7pm. The fun is free, including skate skate, fish: see ray.
