EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- BigFix[R] Inc., delivering the industry's only real-time IT policy enforcement and security optimization engine, is providing special customized Policies for Windows computers to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which mandates new daylight saving time daylight saving time (DST), time observed when clocks and other timepieces are set ahead so that the sun will rise and set later in the day as measured by civil time.  parameters for U.S. and Canadian time zones beginning March 11, 2007. BigFix is providing fixes for each of the six Microsoft Windows See Windows.

In order to comply, customers must write and deploy custom registry modification programs to automate a very time consuming and costly process. Additionally, time zone updates are different for each version of the Windows OS - many Windows customers run multiple versions and are behind schedule in creating, testing, and deploying home-grown fixes.

"With BigFix DST Policies, enterprises can immediately and accurately reconfigure their globally distributed Windows assets to remediate this issue while maintaining very high availability standards," said Gregory Toto, Vice President, Products and Operations for BigFix, Inc. "BigFix DST is absolutely transparent to the end-user; it does not even require a reboot To reload the operating system, which restarts the computer. See boot.

so there is zero disruption in the customer's daily business. IT organizations are constantly facing issues like the DST configuration change, and are turning to BigFix to deliver mission-critical configuration changes reliably, accurately, and in real time."

While the change in daylight saving time applies to the U.S. and Canada, the time change will affect companies outside North America that have operations, customers, or partners based in the U.S. or Canada; companies that interact or integrate with systems based in North America or rely on date/time calculations may be impacted. Mexico will not be following the new DST 2007 rules, which means systems configured to use U.S. time zones (e.g., Pacific Time) will need to change their system configurations to utilize Mexico's time zones.

Additionally, updates for several applications (JAVA, Outlook, Exchange, Sharepoint, etc.) are not currently available, but can be developed through BigFix Professional Services. Contact BigFix Sales for additional information, including a value-based pricing Value-Based Pricing
