BigBand Networks Appoints Broadband Veteran Jamie Howard Chief Operating Officer; Howard Brings Networking and Corporate Business Expertise to Senior Management Team.

BigBand Networks, Inc., a leading provider of broadband multimedia routing systems for broadcast television and advanced services, today announced the appointment of Jamie Howard to the position of chief operating officer (COO). Howard will lead BigBand Networks' marketing and sales, customer support and corporate strategy initiatives.

Howard, who has more than 20 years of cable and telecommunications experience, possesses a wealth of knowledge in system and global broadband networks. He began his career as a senior member of the engineering teams that built the Atlanta and Chicago metropolitan area cable networks now operated by AT&T Broadband. As a director of engineering at Continental Cablevision of Greater Los Angeles (now AT&T Broadband), he built one of the nation's first hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) networks. While at Continental, he also served as general manager in their central and southern California regions.

Howard gained global expertise while serving as CEO and president for @Home Benelux, BV in Amsterdam. At @Home Benelux, Howard had full P&L responsibility and led the company's entry into the European broadband market. While in the Netherlands, he launched enhanced broadband services and was responsible for the company's business operations, including marketing and sales, engineering, billing, and customer support.
