Big reward for a bright idea.A TEESSIDE school has been rewarded after pupils came up with an imaginative idea to help make the world a better place. Nottingham-based Formation Training & Development marked its tenth birthday by launching a national competition asking school children how they would spend pounds 10 to make a difference to the world. Abbey Hill School and Technology College, in Stockton, won pounds 100 for its idea. Class 11PT pupils decided to buy two copies of the book Change The World For a Fiver and send them, with two unused disposable cameras, to neighbouring Ash Trees and Harrow Harrow, borough, Greater London, England Harrow, outer borough (1991 pop. 194,300) of Greater London, SE England. For centuries Harrow grew foodstuffs for London. It is mainly residential and contains parts of the Green Belt, areas set aside as parkland. Gate Primary schools. The two schools would then use ideas from the book to prepare a lesson, take a photo and then pass the book on to another school. Abbey Hill will keep track of what's been happening by keeping in touch with the schools. Amanda Pearce-Burton, managing director of Formation Training & Development, said: "The idea was instantly inspirational in·spi·ra·tion·al adj. 1. Of or relating to inspiration. 2. Providing or intended to convey inspiration. 3. Resulting from inspiration. . The judges were really impressed im·press 1 tr.v. im·pressed, im·press·ing, im·press·es 1. To affect strongly, often favorably: with the approach the class had taken, particularly the clever way of getting other schools involved." Abbey Hill will use the money to create their own book highlighting what primary schools are doing to support sustainability. |
