Big night with lots of noise! There will be some loud shenanigans at Newcastle City Hall this Thursday. Entertainment Editor GORDON BARR finds out more.

SHE was the big voice on Meat Loaf's biggest hit and now singer Lorraine Crosby is promising a big night out in Newcastle this Thursday.

Lorraine Crosby in concert with special guest Bonnie Tyler Bonnie Tyler (real name Gaynor Hopkins), born on June 8 1951 in Skewen in Wales, United Kingdom is a pop/rock singer. She is widely recognisable by her highly distinctive, husky voice.  at the City Hall is only a taster of what music lovers can expect from the night.

For North Tyneside North Tyneside is a metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Its seat is at the Town Hall, Wallsend.

Created in 1974, the borough lies within the historic county boundaries of Northumberland.
 lass Lorraine has a host of other guests lined up, she will launch her debut Mrs Loud album and will also be raising money for a worthy cause too.

"The reason I am doing the City Hall is that I am launching my debut album Mrs Loud, selffinanced and lots of hard work, and you can ask any musician from Newcastle which venue they want to play and out of all in the town they would say the City Hall," she says.

"All the musicians in the band are from Newcastle and feel the same as me.

"It is a very special venue and we are delighted to perform there.

"There have been weeks of rehearsals and choreography and a lot of time and effort put in for a one-off show."

Lorraine's band members are Stu Emerson, (guitar), Steve Ireland, (bass), Steve Wilson Steve Wilson can refer to:

  • Steve Wilson (offensive lineman), former NFL player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"We are doing an unplugged session with local favourites the Caffrey Brothers," adds Lorraine. "Students from Heaton Manor School Heaton Manor School is a 11 – 18 state comprehensive school in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The school building, fully rebuilt in 2004 from PFI funding replaced two separate sites (known as the Jesmond and Benton

"The show is in two halves as there is so much to cram in and Bonnie Tyler will perform a string of her hits as well as a duet with myself."

But the night also has a charitable edge to it too.

"We will be raffling a guitar donated by Guitar Guitar and signed by Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler and myself," explains Lorraine, who dueted with Meat Loaf on his number one global smash I Would Do Anything For Love, (But I Won't Do That).

"The tickets are pounds 2 each and all of the money received will go to Maggies Cancer Care, a very worthy charity that gets no Government funding and makes a huge difference to peoples' lives.

"They will also be collecting on the night of the show too."

The Chronicle has teamed up with the cancer charity to launch one of our biggest appeals, aiming to raise pounds 500,000 to help bring Maggies Cancer Care to Tyneside.

Maggies hopes to open the pounds 3m centre by 2010 at Newcastle's Freeman Hospital.

It will give patients and their loved ones access to expert advice on coping with the illness.
