Big clean-up after deluge swamps homes.


A CLEAN-up operation was under way last night after heavy rain and strong winds caused flooding across the UK.

Scotland was worst hit by the weather with communities in Huntly in Aberdeenshire and the coastal town of Stonehaven counting the cost of the damage.

Frank MacDonald, owner of the Harbour Bakery in Stonehaven, said staff, family and friends had been helping to clean up the shop and bakery since this morning.

He said: "The shop itself is just a wreck with lots of equipment damaged. I will be losing thousands of pounds over the next couple of weeks. It will be weeks before the shop opens."
