Big camera--bigger image. (Digest).

CMC Electronics has been busy developing its Wide Aspect (1K x 1K) Infrared Focal Plane Array (IRFPA) sensor module with an eye to providing commanders greater control of the battlespace with precision targeting at an extended engagement range. Specifically developed for the Joint Strike Fighter and Future Combat System's operational requirements, the IRFPA technology is positioned for insertion into interim and legacy platforms--as evidenced by the photo of the IR camera (with the new sensor) placed on the balcony of the Marriott Hotel during AUSA in October. The photo on the right shows the image of a building over six kilometres away.
