Big bet gone to the dogs.. GAMBLING.


A COUPLE wagered pounds 47,000 on every possible winning combination in six greyhound greyhound, breed of tall, swift, sight hound developed nearly 5,000 years ago in Egypt. It stands about 26 in. (66 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs about 65 lb (29.5 kg).  races - only to lose pounds 13,000.

The duo were chasing a pounds 101,110.30 jackpot but had to share it with two others who also got all six winners.

The unlucky married pair arrived at Sheffield's Owlerton Stadium with the cash in a plastic bag and it took staff an hour to count.

But as the record pot was split, they walked away with only pounds 33,703.46.

Stadium boss John Gilburn said: "They were very philosophical about the situation."
