Since the account has been with The Communications Group, enrollment in BreastCare has jumped more than 62 percent and 18,291 women in Arkansas enrolled in the program last year.

Dan Cowling, president at The Communications Group, said the goal is to continue the work the agency began. Upon first gaining the account, the agency identified four obstacles preventing women from signing up for the program. The obstacles included the fear of receiving a negative diagnosis and the fear of not qualifying for treatment if a diagnosis is given.

The group's work has focused on alleviating the fears and publicizing pub·li·cize

He said the increases in BreastCare participants have been a result of the department's efforts and also because of the new emphasis.

"We know they are consumers and want to be viewed as consumers. You can tell the consumer what they should do, or you can listen to their concerns," Cowling said.

Public health is a topic the agency is familiar with, though. A release issued by the group states that it has more than 19 years experience working in public outreach Outreach is an effort by an organization or group to connect its ideas or practices to the efforts of other organizations, groups, specific audiences or the general public.  and education.
