Big Springs Elementary Students Bring ``A Season of Celebrations'' to Fujitsu; Eighth Annual Holiday Card Competition Delivers a Record 485 Submissions.

In this year's Big Springs Elementary School Annual Holiday Card Competition hosted by Fujitsu Network Communications, students submitted more than 485 designs based on the designated theme "A Season of Celebrations."

Big Springs Elementary School, located in Richardson, and Fujitsu Network Communications have worked together on this competition for the past eight years. Every year, a panel of six judges from Fujitsu Network Communications has the complicated task of picking a single winner from each of the six classes. The six designs selected are then placed in a collage for the front of Fujitsu's card. The six winners are from first grade, Stephanie Mitchell; second grade, Reagan Mitchell; third grade, Lydia Villarreal; fourth grade, Casey Gilblom; fifth grade, Hilary Hood; sixth grade Audrey Su.

"It's quite incredible the talent we see every year from these kids," said Jaye Largent, human resources manager and head of Fujitsu Network Communications community affairs. "We wish we were able to award a 485-way tie for first place, but we can only use so many," said Largent. "This competition is truly one of Fujitsu employees' favorite annual activities."

The card will be printed and used by the company to send holiday greetings to all of its customers, suppliers and other important clientele worldwide.

"The kids get so excited when this event rolls around because they know their design might be chosen," said John Feekin, principal of Big Springs Elementary. "Aside from seeing the kids' enthusiasm, the teachers really appreciate this event because it promotes healthy competition among the individual students."

The winning card will be framed and placed in the hallway of Big Springs Elementary School, alongside previous year's winners.
