Big O Tires, together with the company's scholarship fund awarded 13 scholarships to college students. Five individuals were awarded $2,500 each and eight received $1,000 each. Heather Christensen of Lakeside, Mont. received the Vern Nielsen Memorial Scholarship, which honors a long time franchisee who passed away in 2004. Hannah Story of Santa Rosa, Calif. received the Mark Boyter Memorial Scholarship named for the company's retail information technology specialist who passed away in 2002. Other recipients include Gerald Armijo, Trinidad, Colo; Jessica Curry, Louisville, Ky.; Trent Edwards, Provo, Utah; Jeremy Hayes, Littleton, Colo.; Nicole Hayes, Littleton, Colo; Anna Liggett and Eric Liggett, Centennial, Colo; Kyle Markley, Brighton, Colo.; Amy May, Lizton, Ind.; Kimber Roebke, Goodyear, Ariz.; and Mandy Walker, New Albany, Ind.
