Big Land Sale: Thousands of Acres of Hunting Land to Sell in J.P. King Auction.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Approximately 17,985 acres of land in Mora and Harding counties - including more than six miles along the Canadian River - will be sold at auction in a single day on Thursday, Nov. 15, with J.P. King Auction Company managing the sale.

The auction will be held at 11 a.m. at the Wyndham Hotel in Albuquerque, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. Twenty-five percent of the land will sell at absolute auction, meaning it will go to the highest bidder with no minimum bid or reserve.

The property will sell in 35 parcels, ranging from approximately 140 acres to approximately 1,660 acres, according to Craig King, president of J.P. King.

"Most of this land is ideal for hunting, and by offering the land in parcels, we can make it accessible to a lot more people and broaden the market. Bidders can combine parcels that best meet their needs," said King.

"For example, there are parcels as small as approximately 436 acres that have considerable river frontage for those to whom the water is important. Others could combine contiguous parcels to have a very large hunting plantation extending for thousands of acres. We could very well see some bidders who want the entire property," said King.

Much of the land has rock outcroppings, mature pinion and some ponderosa, with large populations of deer, elk and antelope.
