Big Cats named for Shinty international.

THE GAA have announced the squads for the U-21 and Senior Hurling/ Shinty Internationals against Scotland this Saturday October 18.

The Senior International takes place in Nowlan Park Nowlan Park is the principal Gaelic Athletic Association stadium in Kilkenny, Ireland, home to the Kilkenny hurling team. It has two covered stands and two terraces, behind each goalpost. The current capacity of the stadium is approximately 30,000 with a seating capacity of 14,500. , Kilkenny, at 3 pm, while the Under-21 clash will be held in Durrow, Co. Laois, at noon.

It is hosted by The Harps GAA The Harps Gaelic Athletic Association Club is a hurling, gaelic football and camogie club in County Laois, Ireland. It is a combination of players from the villages of Cullohill and Durrow.  Club in conjunction with the Durrow Tri-Centenary celebrations.

The action in Nowlan Park gets underway with the Camogie/Shinty game at 1.30 pm.

Manager, Lester Ryan, has named a very strong senior squad which includes Derek Lyng Derek Lyng (born 4 July, 1978) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Emeralds-Urlingford and with the Kilkenny senior inter-county team.

, Tommy Walsh and Eddie Brennan from All-Ireland champions, Kilkenny as well as Cork's Sen Og O hAilpin.

The panel also includes three representatives from Carlow's Christy Ring Cup The Christy Ring Cup is in effect a competition for the "Division 2" hurling teams, the so-called middle-ranking hurling teams in Ireland. It is an extension of the Guinness All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the premier knock-out hurling competition.  winning side, Des Shaw, Edward Coady and Shane Kavanagh, who captains the side, as well as Dermot Clarke and Michael Gilmartin from Nicky Rackard Cup The Nicky Rackard Cup (Irish: Chorn Nicoláis Mhic Riocaird) is in effect a competition for the "Division 3" hurling teams, the counties in Ireland that would not be considered "traditional" hurling teams.  winners, Sligo.

The Under-21 panel named by manager, Paudie Butler, is primarily made up of players who play in the Christy Ring and Nicky Rackard Cup.

The side is captained by John Rogers (Carlow) and also includes Sean Bourke from the host club, The Harps, as well as Keith Raymond (Sligo), Man of the Match in the Nicky Rackard Cup final, and Niall Kilcoyne, son of Westmeath's only All-Star, David.
