OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2000

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Bay Inc., joins the Pillsbury Doughboy(TM) to "roll out the dough" in celebration of a $50,000 donation from Albertson's and Pillsbury and to commemorate the 50th Anniversary Pillsbury BAKE-OFF The Pillsbury Bake-Off is a cooking contest, run by Pillsbury Company from 1949 to 1976, annually, and biennially since.[1] History

(R) at an event being held on Saturday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m. at Albertson's Store, 3000 E. 9th St., along Hwy. 880.

Big Brothers Big Sisters participants will bake, decorate and share their designs with the public. There will be festive decorations, face painters and an array of other activities during the event, and the Pillsbury Doughboy(TM) will join in the fun. A Big Brothers Big Sisters recruitment drive for new adult mentors will also be held.

Nearly 2,500 Albertson's Food & Drug stores are partnering with The Pillsbury Co. to raise funds to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on youth. . Throughout the month of February, Albertson's customers will help raise money for their local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency by buying featured Pillsbury products.

This donation comes on the heels of a $100,000 Big Brothers Big Sisters donation made by Albertson's and Pillsbury in 1999.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, with headquarters in Philadelphia, has matched millions of children at risk with caring adult mentors since 1904. Children with Big Brothers and Big Sisters are less likely to use drugs and alcohol, skip school and exhibit violent behavior.
