Bid to clean beauty spot; REA VALLEY.


BUDDING environmentalists are wanted to help tidy up Verb 1. tidy up - put (things or places) in order; "Tidy up your room!"

 one of south Birmingham's beautiful areas of countryside.

The Rea Valley river rangers are running a nature reserve work weekend on February 18 and 19.

The River Rea

The River Rea (pronounced "ray") is a small river which passes through Birmingham, England.
 rises in the south-west of Birmingham in the Waseley Hills Country Park Waseley Hills Country Park is 150 acres of rolling open hills with old hedgerows, pastures and small pockets of woodland with panoramic views, set in Worcestershire, England.

It is located off Junction 4 of the M5 Motorway.

It is not a large park.
 and flows north-east across the city where it joins the River Tame near Spaghetti Junction.

Although a small river, it has been called the "Mother of Birmingham" as it played a vital part in the development of the city.

The rangers are funded through the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund from Longbridge, Northfield, Kings Norton, Bournville and Selly Oak.

Anyone willing to get their hands dirty and help maintain the nature reserve can meet at Wychall Reservoir, Kings Norton, on Saturday, February 18, and Sunday 19 at 10.30am.

The event is free and lasts until 3pm. Booking is essential on 0121 447 7106 or 07980 672316.
